ASIO driver for free!!
So, I was just checking out Melodyne and noticed that it requires an ASIO driver. I used to have one via my Echo Mia sound card, but that got fried via lightning!
What I didn’t know, and Melodyne’s help page taught me, was that you can down this sweet little .exe and install a stand-in ASIO driver to your machine. It isn’t as good as if you were running protools or another pro sound card, but it beats the piss out of the Direct X driver.
Audio Stream Input/Output (ASIO) is a computer sound card driver protocol for digital audio specified by Steinberg, providing a low-latency and high fidelity interface between a software application and a computer’s sound card. Whereas Microsoft’s DirectSound is commonly used as an intermediary signal path for non-professional users, ASIO allows musicians and sound engineers to access external hardware directly.
I downloaded and set it up. Works great! Figured I would share it with you all.
Check it out and download it from here!
