This is a walk-through on how to build a cheap, but effective, downward facing tripod for a GoPro with LED Lights.
I have recently been doing a number DIY tutorials. Mostly music related projects on Ask.Audio. To do those I need a downward facing tripod. I looked online, but here in Brazil the price for such a thing comes to more than the camera itself.
My solution was to build my own. It ended up costs about R$10 (around $4 usd) not including the LED strip. The parts list is nothing but a clothespin and PVC piping.
The most important thing to note is that the cross bar is a bit wider than the legs. This allows you to slide it up and down to adjust the height when needed. Other than that, I think it’s pretty straight forward.
The LED strip is just your standard LED strip lighting stuck to the bottom of the cross bar.
The whole thing is really lightweight, but sturdy and easy to take apart for storage.
