Junkie XL’s “Studio Time” Season 2 has Started!

Junkie XL, or Tom Holkenborg, has made quite a name for himself and for good reason. He has been scoring some of the biggest films of the last 5 years. Including, but not limited to, Batman Vs. Superman, Deadpool, Mad Max: Fury Road, and 300: Rise of an Empire.

Junkie XL on IMDB

I’ve personally been a fan of Junkie XL since he was producing tech house and techno music 15 years ago. You’ve almost definitely heard his remix of Elvis’s “A little less conversation” as it has been used in too many films to count and currently has 13M+ views on the official Elvis youtube channel.

It is safe to say that in a short two paragraph snippet of his portfolio the man clearly stands out as one of our generations true great musical talents.

What is really exciting, beyond listening to his incredible body of work, is his youtube series “Studio Time”. This is a series where he personally walks you through his process of composing for these blockbuster films.

In season 1 he covered making the epic drums and guitars of Mad Max, his template setup and workstation layout, the music behind Run All Night, Fabfilter plugs and more.

He is promising around 20 new episodes this round. One to be released every Friday for the next couple of months. If you like learning from incredibly talented producers, drooling over analog gear, and watching a true master working in his environment this is a series for you!

The production value is top quality too. Multiple cameras. Great clear dialogue mic audio. He even has a direct audio feed from his computer this season.

Check out the Welcome Back Video where explains a bit about the series and what’s to come.

Then jump right into Season 2 Episode 1

This is the first of what is going to be a 2-part video, on how he composed the character theme for Liz in the movie Brimstone. Subscribe. Watch. Listen. Learn.
