This is how to stop the screen on your Alienware laptop from self dimming! Two methods.
I know that you, like me, don’t like the screen’s brightness to keep dimming after a few seconds. It makes me nervous and sometimes can get in the way of gaming.
I also know that, if you have been searching about this topic, most people are telling you to adjust the battery settings in the control panel…. and, that isn’t fixing the issue you are talking about.
The real problem is the Tobii Power Settings. Specifically the Tobii Presence Settings.
Tobii Eye Tracking Power Features
You can adjust these settings in the Tobii Eye Tracking Control Panel.
In the Windows search bar type Tobii and click the Tobii Eye Tracking Desktop App.
Under the Power tab you can choose what the eye tracking system does when it doesn’t see you after a set amount of time. This can be a useful feature. I don’t need it though.
How to disable this feature completely via Power Settings
If you want to just completely shut this off do the following.
Go to Control Panel Power Settings
- Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Edit Play Settings
- Click “Change the advanced power settings”
From the Advanced Power Options panel do to Tobii Power Settings > Tobii Power Presence Settings and change the two options.
- On Batter: Disabled
- Plugged In: Disabled
